Three Year Post Graduate Degree in Trade Related Laws and WTO (TRL & WTO)
- General: The present trade system was developed through a series of trade negotiations, or rounds, held under GATT. The last round i.e., 1985-1994 Uruguay Round lead to the establishment of the WTO. The World Trade Organization came into being in 1995, which is one of the youngest International Organizations. The WTO is an International Organization under whose jurisdiction the GATT 1994 replaced the GATT 1947. WTO is a comprehensive body that deals with almost all international aspects of trade related matters.
- Eligibility for Admission: Any candidate having a LL.B., degree is eligible to be admitted in the Post Graduate Degree Course in Trade Related Laws. This Post Graduate Degree course is also available to other graduates who may opt for the admission and they shall be awarded Post Graduate Degree in Trade Related Laws after the successful completion of the course.
- Admission Procedure: A candidate desirous of seeking admission to the Post Graduate Degree in Trade Related Laws is required to submit a duly filled in application form prescribed by the University on or before August 20, 2005. Under exceptional circumstances, Distance Education Admissions Committee (DEAC) may admit a student even after the last date of the admission is over. Details such as reading materials, project assignments, evaluation, qualifying standards, repeat examinations, promotion schemes etc., would be available in detail along with the admission form.
- Objectives of the Course:
- To acquaint the learners with various facets of transnational trade in goods, services, investments and intellectual property rights and the law developed therein,
- To deliver a basic understanding of the legal, economical and institutional fundamentals of various rules governing cross border trade.
- To analyze the role of various International trade organizations established as a result of the Bretten Woods System and
- To familiarize with the conceptual understanding of liberalization and globalization and market mechanisms of international trade.
