CURRICULUM CONTEMPORARY
The
course curriculum has been inspired by the UGC Curriculum
Development Committee Report. Recommendations of the C.D.C. have
been updated to bring it in consonance with globalising India,
pluralism and social integration promoted by weaving in concerns
of poverty, gender and disability into the legal curriculum. To
aid practical appreciation of issues Clinical Legal Education is
an integral component of the course curriculum. The course
curriculum promotes inter-disciplinarity and integration between
Law, Social Sciences and Humanities.
TEACHING METHODOLOGY
In
order to impart professional skills to budding law persons the
University imparts instruction in simulated settings such as
Moot Courts, Mock Trials and Drama. Individuated and one to one
interaction is encouraged. Each student has a faculty advisor
who is a student counselor for curricular as well as
co-curricular activities.
Study
materials accompany instruction in each course to promote
intensive and interactive learning. Instruction is through
lectures, seminars, group and individual tutorials. Skills of
reading, research, analysis and writing are developed through
project assignments. To maximise on available expertise and to
promote inter-disciplinary understanding collaborative teaching
is undertaken in some courses.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Students from vulnerable groups are
provided special assistance in learning and language skills
through remedial courses. To promote self-reliance as well
as dignity of labour the University has an
"Earn while you Learn Scheme". In
recognition of the vital role that the parents and the family
play in the education process, the University has active
parent-teacher interaction.
