Placement Programme

The learning objectives of the University are motivated by the goal of producing socially responsible lawyers. Social responsibility however cannot be taught but has to be learned. The University thus attempts to devise programmes that will bridge the gap between classroom and social reality, the Placement Programme of the University is one such effort.

Students of the B.A., B.L. (Hons.) course are placed with non-governmental organisations, national and international institutions, lawyers and law firms. The placement is arranged by the University by liasoning with these various organisations. The liasoning aims to find out what are the requirements of the organisation, what is the expectation from the students and also the extent to which these expectations were in fact fulfilled. Before the placements the students are oriented to the set up and activities of the organisations. They are sent with express placement goals and are required to submit a report on the placement to the University which is evaluated for research competence, sensitivity and understanding.
Law students, through the Placement Programme gain a first hand knowledge of social problems on the ground, a knowledge that would necessarily assist in informed law making, imaginative advocacy and sensitive adjudication.
Students have been given placement with Hon'ble Judges of the Supreme Court; of the High Courts in couple of States; Senior Advocates of the Supreme Court and different High Courts; Attorney General of India, New Delhi; Chairman, Bar Council of India, New Delhi; couple of UN organisations in New Delhi; well known corporate Law Firms, several Non-Governmental organisations (NGOs) doing work in law related areas; other financial and law related organisations. The commitment and hard work demonstrated by the students at these places have uniformly received recognition and praise. A couple of final year students have already received offers of appointment from the well known Corporate Law Firm, Amarchand Mangaldas, Bombay even before their Graduation.
