(i) GENERAL
The Academic Schedule every year shall be of two semesters i.e., Summer Semester from July to November and Winter Semester from December to April. Students are required to undergo eight weeks placement training during April-June.
(ii) SEMESTER BREAK
There shall be a break for 10 days at the end of the summer session. Similarly, there shall be a break for 10 to 11 weeks at the end of the winter session. However, it is compulsory for all students to undergo 8 weeks placement during this period.
(iii) EXAMINATION SYSTEM
The examination system is based on three principles, namely
- Measurement of the cognitive information level
- Assessment of application of information to a given situation and
- Evaluation of value perceptions and proactive learning participation.
The first level of examination is taken as a continuous process, at least with three tests during the semester as an ongoing evaluation, which may cover one third of the examination. The applicative ability is to be assessed through problem testing at least twice during the semester as an ongoing process. The proactive learning ability and evaluation is to be examined through written project assignments and defense of the analysis, which generally comprise one fourth of the tests. The faculty, of course, can revise the basis and methodology of examination from time to time. Examination is an ongoing process integrating the teaching and learning system. The examination system would be transparent and objective with expected standard/model answers to the questions/problems set by the teacher evaluator being duly notified after the test/exam to the class of students taking the test. The faculty may give two repeat tests, in whole or in part, of the course as indicated above in the scheme of examination. If a student fails thereafter; he/she may carry the course to the next semester subject to maximum of three courses. The total five-year course must be completed in a maximum of eight-year time.
The total result of a student shall be based on cumulative grade points in a ten-point scale as enumerated below:
