ACADEMIC SCHEDULE


(i) GENERAL
The Academic Schedule every year shall be of two semesters i.e., Summer Semester from July to November and Winter Semester from December to April. Students are required to undergo eight weeks placement training during April-June.
(ii) SEMESTER BREAK
There shall be a break for 10 days at the end of the summer session. Similarly, there shall be a break for 10 to 11 weeks at the end of the winter session. However, it is compulsory for all students to undergo 8 weeks placement during this period.
(iii) EXAMINATION SYSTEM
The examination system is based on three principles, namely
  • Measurement of the cognitive information level
  • Assessment of application of information to a given situation and
  • Evaluation of value perceptions and proactive learning participation.
The first level of examination is taken as a continuous process, at least with three tests during the semester as an ongoing evaluation, which may cover one third of the examination. The applicative ability is to be assessed through problem testing at least twice during the semester as an ongoing process. The proactive learning ability and evaluation is to be examined through written project assignments and defense of the analysis, which generally comprise one fourth of the tests. The faculty, of course, can revise the basis and methodology of examination from time to time. Examination is an ongoing process integrating the teaching and learning system. The examination system would be transparent and objective with expected standard/model answers to the questions/problems set by the teacher evaluator being duly notified after the test/exam to the class of students taking the test. The faculty may give two repeat tests, in whole or in part, of the course as indicated above in the scheme of examination. If a student fails thereafter; he/she may carry the course to the next semester subject to maximum of three courses. The total five-year course must be completed in a maximum of eight-year time.
The total result of a student shall be based on cumulative grade points in a ten-point scale as enumerated below:

(iv) Rules of Promotion
  1. Students must get at least a result of C grade a pass a course. However, as per the requirements of Bar Council of India Degree in Law shall be conferred on scoring 48%.
  2. The scheme of continuous evaluation shall be made known to the students at the beginning of the semester.
  3. There shall be first repeat examination held after each semester at suitable time after the declaration of the result of main examination.
  4. There shall be a second repeat examination held in each semester after the declaration of result of the first repeat examination or along with the immediate subsequent end term examination. Only those students who fail in the first repeat examination shall be permitted to take up the second repeat examination.
  5. A student who fails after the second repeat examination has to readmit for the course in which he/she fails for that particular course/s when it is offered again.
  6. Improvement can be offered in a course only once with the first repeat.
  7. Result-sheet with Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) shall be communicated to the parents with faculty observations, if any, at the end of each semester.
  8. The above rules and guidelines are provisional and shall be modified by the University authorities from time to time.
(v) Evaluation
The evaluation shall be regular and continuous as per the UGC requirements. The End term examination will be for 40 marks in Under Graduate Programs and 50 marks in Post Graduatieon degree programs out of the total 100 marks. The rest of marks shall be on the basis of continuous assessment in the form of Practicals, Court Room Exercises, Snap Tests, Modular Tests/Monthly Tests, Mid-Term Examination and Project Writing. Project works shall be limited to not more three (03) papers in a semester. In order to maintain uniformity and transparency the following criteria shall be adopted.

1. Court Room Exercises

10 marks for each round maximum of 20
2. Practicals for 4 hours 20 marks
    Practicals for 2 hours 10 marks maximum of 20
3. Case study/field survey 10 marks for each maximum of 20
4. Project writing/mid term Examinations 20 marks
5. Continuous assessments
/Monthly/Modular/Snap tests
15 marks
